The price is a decision, not a guess

Free lesson · Price It to Sell · 2 min read

Two identical items, two different prices, two very different outcomes. The price you set is the biggest single choice you make on a listing. Get it right and it sells in days. Get it wrong and it sits in a cupboard for months.

So decide, on purpose, what kind of seller you want to be on this item. A fast seller prices to move and takes the quick, certain profit. A patient seller holds out for top money and accepts the wait. Neither is wrong, but choose deliberately rather than by accident.

Remember too that the price a buyer really judges is not your number alone, it is your number plus postage. Two sellers at thirty pounds are not equal if one adds five pounds postage and the other adds nine. Always think in the total the buyer sees.

And a price is never a guess. Somewhere on eBay, items just like yours have already sold, at prices real buyers agreed to pay. That sold history is your evidence, and the rest of this course is about reading it and acting on it.

This is where RedGem saves you the digging. Every lot carries a resale figure built from real eBay sold prices, not wishful asking prices, so you start from evidence instead of a hunch.

Open a deal, look at the resale figure and the sold range behind it, and decide out loud: is this one I price to sell fast, or hold for the top. Deciding on purpose is the whole skill.
